TWO WEDDING RINGS, ONE DEFINING CHALLENGE FOR CREW CUTTERS
TWO RINGS, ONE STORY — When Namtarn and Pai’s Love Story Became the Decisive Challenge on the Road to the Final

What if we were asked to design wedding rings for a real couple, with heart-shaped diamonds as an essential part of the brief? How could we create rings that were not only beautiful, but also told a love story unlike any other?
This was the challenge presented in Challenge 09 of The Cut Reality, under the theme THE LOVER, where contestants were tasked with designing wedding rings for the celebrity couple Namtarn Pichukkana and Pai Pathit.
The pressure extended far beyond the intricate details of jewelry design. This was a crucial round of the competition, with only five teams advancing to the Final.
For CREW CUTTERS, this creation carried a dual significance: honoring the couple's unique love story while marking another defining moment in the journey our team had shared throughout the competition.
When “True Love” Became the Design Brief
After securing second place in Challenge 08, AGAIN & AGAIN, CREW CUTTERS moved on to a new challenge in which each team was assigned a different interpretation of love to express through jewelry design.

Pawaranan Sinlapawanich of Morakot Gallery represented the team in selecting a definition of love, and CREW CUTTERS was assigned “True Love”, along with an essential requirement: incorporating a Heart-Shaped Diamond into the design.
Although the heart is one of the most universally recognized symbols of love, creating a design that holds a deeply personal meaning for one particular couple is far from simple.
The team therefore began by exploring the story behind what “True Love” meant to Namtarn and Pai.
From a Couple’s Love Story to the Concept of TWO RINGS, ONE STORY
The members of CREW CUTTERS worked together to research Namtarn and Pai’s relationship, exploring their shared interests, travels, and meaningful memories. These discoveries became the starting point for exchanging perspectives and developing design ideas as a team.
Two elements captured our attention in particular: the couple’s shared love of diving and the underwater world, and their unforgettable marriage proposal in Norway, beneath the magical glow of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

Two seemingly contrasting worlds — the depths of the ocean and the skies above the horizon — had become part of one beautiful love story.

Following a collaborative brainstorming session, Thanawat Panachaweng of Charites Gems presented the core concept that the team had collectively agreed upon.
He then worked closely with JITAPA AURAMORNRAT of Siamwell to develop the jewelry design sketches, blending contemporary jewelry design trends with the couple’s unique love story.

The concept the team chose was TWO RINGS, ONE STORY, inspired by the belief that two people do not need to share the same personalities or preferences to build a life together. They can be different individuals while sharing the same story and a common destination.
With this in mind, the team designed two wedding rings, each with its own distinct identity, connected through heart-shaped diamonds and meaningful hidden details that symbolize their shared love story.
HER RING — From Underwater Memories to the Northern Lights
For Namtarn’s wedding ring, the team placed a Heart-Shaped Diamond at the center of the design, incorporating an innovative detachable Jacket Ring concept to offer versatility in how the piece can be worn.
Without the jacket, the ring becomes an elegant, understated Solitaire, perfect for everyday wear. When the jacket is added, it transforms into a striking Statement Piece, ideal for evening celebrations and special occasions.

The blue and green accents on the jacket draw inspiration from the vibrant colors of the underwater world and the ethereal glow of the Aurora Borealis, connecting the design to two of the couple’s most cherished memories.
HIS RING — A Love Story Hidden in the Details
For Pai’s wedding ring, the team chose a sleek, contemporary design that is both durable and comfortable for everyday wear.
Although its exterior is distinctly different from Namtarn’s ring, the two designs remain connected through the symbolism of the Heart-Shaped Diamond.
The team selected a Champagne Brown Heart Diamond, drawing a meaningful connection between the diamond’s warm brown hue and the name “Namtarn,” which means “sugar” in Thai.
This thoughtful detail symbolizes the idea of always carrying the heart of the person you love close to you.

Hidden within the ring are intricate details inspired by coral, marine life, and Nemo, reflecting the couple’s shared passion for diving and the underwater memories they have created together.
Rather than making a bold statement through its exterior, Pai’s ring places greater emphasis on the personal meaning hidden within — details that only the wearer may fully appreciate each time he puts it on.
The two rings may be different in form, but each carries the story of two people in its own unique way.

The team also developed a design concept called HALO HEART, incorporating a hidden detail inspired by the number 30, a number that holds special significance as both Namtarn and Pai share the same birth date.
This meaningful detail is revealed when the piece is turned over, adding another layer of personal storytelling to the design.
Beyond the Heart-Shaped Diamond as a universal symbol of love, the ring carries intimate details that hold a special meaning for the couple themselves.
When the Smallest Details Become the Greatest Production Challenges
Once the concept was finalized and the design sketches developed, the next challenge was transforming these intricate ideas into jewelry that could actually be crafted.
Akechai Sankumgon of FINE took responsibility for the gemstone-related aspects of the project, from sourcing rough gemstones and selecting suitable materials to coordinating the cutting process to ensure that each gemstone complemented the design and structure of the finished pieces.

Meanwhile, Worapong Junpreuk of Luvia was responsible for coordinating the production of the jewelry settings, ensuring that the intricate details of the design sketches were accurately translated into the manufacturing process.

The challenge lay in bringing both the meaning and functionality of the jewelry to life. From the shape of the diamonds and the arrangement of gemstones to the hidden details and the detachable Jacket Ring mechanism, every element had to be carefully considered and precisely executed.
Achieving this required close collaboration between designers, gemstone specialists, and the production team, each contributing their expertise to transform the concept into a tangible piece of jewelry.
Beyond the technical complexities, the team was also working under immense pressure. The outcome of this challenge would determine whether CREW CUTTERS would secure a place in the Final of The Cut Reality.
From a Love Story to the Concept of Bespoke Jewelry
Beyond designing the wedding rings, the team also presented FINE DESIGN STUDIO, a bespoke jewelry business concept built around the belief that every meaningful piece of jewelry should begin with the customer’s personal story.
The idea was to transform individual experiences, memories, and relationships into one-of-a-kind jewelry creations that reflect the identity of each wearer.
The team identified its target audience as couples aged 28–40 who seek wedding rings or meaningful jewelry that expresses their relationship and stands apart from conventional, ready-made designs.
The proposed bespoke service would begin by listening to each customer’s story, followed by personalized consultation, jewelry design, gemstone selection, and production — creating a thoughtful journey from personal inspiration to a finished piece of jewelry.

For its marketing strategy, the team proposed using Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook to build brand awareness, guiding potential customers to the website, where they could explore the services and schedule personalized design consultations.
The team also envisioned expanding into international markets through a network of Wedding Planners, Bridal Designers, Luxury Hotels, and Wedding Agencies, beginning with Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Middle East, before eventually extending into Europe and the United States.
These ideas formed part of the business concept developed by CREW CUTTERS and presented to the judges during the competition.
A Defining Challenge on the Road to the Final
Challenge 09 was one of the most high-pressure moments for CREW CUTTERS.
Not only did the team have to translate a real couple’s love story into an intricate and meaningful jewelry design, but the outcome of this challenge would also determine which five teams would advance to the Final of The Cut Reality.

In this round, Pawaranan Sinlapawanich of Morakot Gallery and JITAPA AURAMORNRAT of Siamwell represented CREW CUTTERS in presenting the team’s creations to the judges.
CREW CUTTERS ultimately secured third place in Challenge 09.
Although our design approach did not fully meet the expectations of the judges or the couple, Namtarn and Pai, we were still grateful for the opportunity to explore new concepts and experiment with different approaches to jewelry design under the challenges and pressures of the competition.

For our team, the feedback from both the judges and the people who would actually wear the jewelry became an invaluable lesson.
A creative design does not always mean it is the right design for the customer.
Listening to feedback and using it to refine our ideas is an essential part of the creative process, especially when transforming a design concept into a commercially viable jewelry product.
Commercial Jewelry requires a thoughtful balance between aesthetics, creativity, and market expectations.
Even if our creation was not the best answer today, every piece of feedback offered an opportunity to become better designers tomorrow.
BE'SHINE PERSPECTIVE | When Creativity Moves Beyond Familiar Boundaries
From Be'Shine’s perspective, what we appreciated most about THE LOVER was seeing how CREW CUTTERS embraced creative freedom and explored possibilities beyond conventional wedding ring design.
From detachable mechanisms and hidden details to reinterpreting a couple’s love story through unexpected design elements, the challenge encouraged us to experiment with new forms, techniques, and perspectives.
We believe there is no single right answer in design.
Simplicity has its own timeless charm, just as intricate creations can captivate through their craftsmanship, thoughtful details, and technical complexity.
What truly matters is having the courage to explore different possibilities, without allowing familiar conventions to limit our imagination.

Because creativity does not grow solely from doing what we already know. It grows when we open our minds to possibilities we have yet to explore.
And this is what makes The Cut such a meaningful experience for Be'Shine — one that we are truly grateful for.
It has reminded us that the world of jewelry design still holds countless opportunities to learn, experiment, and create beyond what we once imagined.
